I’m no expert, but it doesn’t take one to recognize that our food systems are dysfunctional, depressing, and even destructive. For the sake of this blog post, let’s limit the scope to food systems in the U.S. Again, a disclaimer about my lack of expertise, but off the top of my head, here are some of the current impacts of our food system.
We are so out of touch with where our food comes from. Most of us don’t think about any of this. Many of us are not even aware of how these systems work, or what devastating impacts they have on our health, our economy, and our environment. I believe many of these impacts can be mitigated. With a thoughtful redesign of our food systems, we could redefine the impacts and create some positive side effects for our health, for the economy, for the environment, and for our peace of mind.
I don’t have all the answers, but I’d like to be part of the solution. I hope you’ll join me.
